Twice a year, Vince’s employer sponsors a trash pickup day.
A blurry picture of me with my boots and Avon Skin So Soft in my hand . . ready to tackle the snakes, the mosquitoes, the gnats and the trash. Notice the hair is all flat and somewhat like it’s supposed to be.
It’s the section of highway that Vince’s employer keeps up that we cleaned. They divide it up so each “team” has 3/4 mile. You walk 3/4 of a mile down one side of the highway and then 3/4 mile the other way and pick up trash. The last time we did it, we were on the 5 lane and had LOTS of trash but this time, we ended up on a side road that hardly had any trash at all and Vince and I were probably the first ones finished and we had less than one full bag of trash.
Then we went to have breakfast at the Mexican restaurant in town. Notice the hair is no longer flat but going every direction.
Breakfast there is so good! Any place that serves french fries for breakfast is a darned good restaurant!
From there, we went straight to Home Depot and got that done early. What would a day be without a trip to Home Depot?
Don’t you just love Vince?
Beverley Tekben says
Ya gotta love him. I have one similar to Vince. He could spend days wandering Home Depot.
Wish I could persuade him to wear Crocs.

Yes I do and I love the cat and the cow too. What a great life you have.
Julie Kaye says
What I noticed is that you look great. You look like your dieting is working for you.
Julie says
I love Mexican food for breakfast. That looks great!!
Kim W says
It looks like life in Texas is agreeing with you.
Janet says
It’s pretty hard not to love Vince, don’t ya think? I haven’tseen a picture of you in a long time-you look great! Keep up the good work!
Mary Ann Harpe says
I have picked up trash with mu son’s Boy Scout troop. They have done the same stretch of road for about 15 years!
Angie says
You both look great! Country life must be agreeing with you! Love your hair! And who wouldn’t love Vince! French Fries for breakfast?–Country Fries with Onions are my favorite. Thank you for helping keep the roadside trash picked up.
Shirley says
Yep. I also love my Sammy today I told him that I may never come out of my sewing room except to eat and sleep. He said thats OK with me. I said but the house you can hardly walk thru it now. He said, “That is ok if it gets too deep I’ll clean it up.” haha I’m so lucky.
Doreen says
You look great! And I can so relate to the hair ‘thing’. I think I must go get some Home Depot stock! My kind of breakfast, BTW! I truly love your posts! Hugs, D

As others have said…..my 1st thought was….wow, she looks good…the diet must be working well for her. Now I need to get motivated. Good for you to be picking up garbage. I did it with 4H group for many years. It caused them (and me) to always be reminded to take care of the land. I love the pictures….be it cows or chicken, etc.
Donna K. from N. TX says
Must be lumber for that other chicken coop. At least it keeps Vince from honky tonking.

I put on my favorite old Eddie Bauer t-shirt the other day and thought of Vince. The t-shirt is green and was full of holes. When I took it off later I sadly put it in the trash. A very sad day indeed!
Hope you have a great weekend!

LOL – Vince looks like he is in 7th Heaven! It really has got be a guy thing. My son, whenever he comes to Westfield – particularly if he isn’t really sure he wants to work on re-modeling – will go and spend almost all afternoon there! And if there is a gadget he hasn’t already bought – well, let’s just say that he has a VERY well equipped tool chest (hmm – he hasnt bought one of those recently either!)
Mel Meister says
Actually, I think your hair looks adorable fluffed out a bit like in the restaurant. Did Vince like it?
Sandy says
The country living must be your secret to looking so young. Dang, Judy you look about 30!! I love your hair, and you can tell you have lost weight. Maybe it is all the watering, planting, chicken chores that keeps you busy and not snacking. Whatever it is, you sure look wonderful and I need to get on a serious diet. With wintering in Texas, I can’ hide behind a jacket, lol. Vince looks happy too. Always a smile on his face.
Happy Room Diana says
Like the rest of your “fans” I too think you look great now. Maybe I need to start eating chips for breakfast too..
Helen Koenigl says
nah – it can’t be the chips – it’s gotta be the refried and the every thing else! Yum – looks so good!
I agree though – Judy – you most definitely look young and have lost a lot of weight! (Now – if only I could stay on a diet longer than 10 minutes…. even if I am losing weight – oh so slowly!)
Kathy Ackerson says
What a great picture, Judy. I’ll bet you were one of the loveliest “trash pickers” out there…..love the boots. You seem to be as “vertically challenged” as me….5′ 1″ and shrinking……lol
Debbie B says
Looking good, Judy! Keep up the good work. So glad you two are enjoying yourselves there in Texas. Love all you posts. Happy Day!
Deb says
It’s a good thing we are a hundred miles from the nearest Home Depot.
I don’t know who would be worse, me or the hub, since I love cabinet making and woodworking too, and would find just as many projects as quilting, and would be more expensive then knitting!
Vince is such a good sport. And your hair is just like mine. I have given up a LONG time ago! Whatever it is, it is. We have to do the road cleaning thing too pretty soon, and I HOPE it isn’t during the height of the BUG season! At least we dont have to worry about snakes, or anything, but the mosquitoes could be in FULL force….! Right now, they have just STARTED to show their ugly little faces….
Jennifer W says
You are both looking great! Glad the weight watchers is working. Motivates me to get going again.
Doe in Mi says
Hey that hairdo is in fashion and it looks great on you. Also what looks good is that breakfast. Looks so good wish I had it for supper tonite. Whats Vince building now? He’s always smiling – gotta love that~!
Mary says
If it isn’t Home Depot, it’s Lowes. Judy – you look wonderful! And you both look happy.
