The garden gets watered really good in the mornings and then as soon as the sun is down enough that it won’t scorch it, I go out and water again. Yesterday morning I watered and looked at everything. Then when I went out yesterday afternoon to water, my cucumbers and beans were up! We had planted these Sunday.
I ran back to the house and got Vince to come see them. He doesn’t get nearly as excited about things like this as I do!
Everything is doing great but we have some cool nights coming up and I doubt my beans or my okra are going to be real happy about that.
I’m so happy to have a garden again.

You sound soooooo happy! I’m glad you found your piece of heaven and are happy with life’s little pleasures. That’s what makes your blog so much fun to read.

I’ll be excited with you. 🙂 🙂
Last night I was talking with a friend and we both got a bit whiny about not being able to dig in the dirt yet. Ours is still okkie, soggy mud! Soon, very soon. Until then, keep posting photos please so we can garden through you.

I have radishes and mesclun salad greens up in earth boxes. I’m thinking of planting peas in our regular raised beds this weekend. But same thing at our house — Scott isn’t nearly as enthralled as I am that we have 2 inch tall plants!

After the warmer than normal March, we are back to having a normal spring and lows in the 50s are still common. I hope to be putting in the cucumber and peas this week.
Your garden is looking great.

Living in southern Ontario, we don’t plant much of anything before May 24 – our earliest “no frost” date. Of course, our bulbs are sprouting, and the perennials are beginning to show. Can’t wait to see the daffodils and irises blooming again!
Veggies have to wait!

Our potatoes are blooming this week. It won’t be long until I bite into an earthy tasting potato. People who haven’t had a potato straight from the garden don’t realize how different the flavor is.. We’re picking wonderful sweet peas asparagus. I cherish the asparagus season. Tonight we’re having asparagus soup and asparagus, kale, leek, and mushroom quiche. I made them 2 weeks ago and my hubby has been yearning for more. Life is so good. BTW, I planted some neat herbs u would enjoy. I’m looking forward to lemon and lime basil, lemon cukes, lots of Asian greens and several kinds of different squashes. I so love going out and picking our meals..If I still lived in the city, I’d seriously consider putting in veggies in my flowerbeds.

Here in AZ, we’ve already canned tomato sauce and are nearly done with our beets, spinach & radishes. When I left we still had 2 gal bags of radishes in the frig and we’ve given them to everybody! LOL they duck when they see us coming with more. Our gardening season is just about done as is the citrus juicing season. Almost 19 2-ltr bottles in the frig plus what we’ve given away. The oranges will still be available to eat fresh for a while yet. I really miss the garden season I grew up with, there’s just something strange about planting peppers & tomatoes in October!
Its always nice to be around folks who relly are contented and happy with their life. Thanks for adding a ray of sunshine to me life.

a layer of straw or other mulch should protect your little shoots from the cold for a little while. so nice to see you so happy.
