We’re so very lucky to have found a place with a good well. Without a well, we wouldn’t be able to have a garden since watering is off limits for the city/community water districts.
This weekend we intended to get as much planting done as we could.
Farmer Vince is ready for a day’s work . . complete with his new straw hat which still had the tag hanging down in the back! We worked so hard all weekend and got a lot done!
Purple hull peas, zipper cream peas, green beans, more Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, more eggplant, more peppers, more onions, and beets were planted. We still have to plant okra, squash, more watermelons and I hope that’s it.
The potatoes have sprouted up through the ground, the first batch of onions are up and so far, everything is looking good. I have soaker hoses over all the pea/bean seeds. I sure hope we have a good harvest! I’m ready to start canning!

oh how pretty – I am so envious of such a large garden – how i wish my hubby was a veggie eater and I would have one too. Here I do have my containers which will make more than enough of some things for me -I will have to pass extra on to friends.

how many acres is that ??? Well it looks big enough for you 2 anyway! It all looks so nice when it is freshly planted. I am sure you are gonna have a huge harvest and be putting that canner in overdrive to get all the canning done!

We will just have to call your hubby “Vinnie Pearl” since he left the price tag on his hat! What a hoot!

Excellent! I was trying to remember Minnie’s name and you did it for me.

I don’t envy your summer heat or having to stay in the air conditioning or your snakes and scorpions but I sure do envy that garden!! I can’t put anything in the ground until June 1 and even then I may have to cover it to prevent frost damage. And we will have another frost some time in early September–short growing season around here!

I see someone already posted my thought – Vinnie Pearl! Garden is looking great!

Garden looks great! Just wait until everything comes up and you have lots of good tasting veggies. You won’t know what to pick first and will probably be harvesting soon at the rate you’re going. I have a straw hat like Vince’s, but mine has a tie on it in case it’s windy! 🙂

If everything you’re planting does good you’ll have plenty to can. When I saw the picture of Vince in the garden my first thought was, “Farmer Vince got a straw hat.” Then I scrolled down and you called him Farmer Vince too. 🙂 Lots of work involved being Farmer Vince, and Mrs. Farmer Vince, too.
The chicken coop looks great.

Please tell Vince that all the hard work and dieting are really starting to show. He is totally “rocking” that green shirt. 🙂 Seriously, he does look much slimmer–am sure you do as well, but since you are always behind the camera, it’s a lot harder to tell 🙂 So glad you are happy here in Texas.

Dang! So many of like mind here. I was going to say Vinnie Pearl too. You are going to have a magnificent garden, Judy! I just finished my taxes last night and my refund is bigger than anticipated. I may be able to afford to put my raised beds in the front yard this year. Of course, after losing half my maple tree in the snow storm a few weeks ago, I may have enough sunshine in the back yard to use the old garden now.
