Or . . old? The old blog is back and to my eye, it looks fantastic! I know the font is a little different but that’s easy to change but I kinda like the new one. Some of the things on the sidebars may be missing or may be re-arranged but I think everything is back to where it should be. If you see anything terribly wrong, please let me know.
For those who have been wondering about the Rolling Along free pattern, it got just a little aggravating with everyone asking where the parts were. After about step 4, I was only able to type one handed and copying and pasting just wasn’t at the top of my priority list. Then after I could use both hands, the blog was messed up and I couldn’t revise that page. This may sound a little “witchy” with a “B” and some will understand and some will not. When I offer a free pattern on the blog, it takes a lot of time to design the quilt, make the quilt, write the pattern and upload the instructions. If you do not read the blog every day, when I said in advance when I would post all the steps, and I did, and you cannot go over to the search bar, which is just under the ad on the right sidebar, and type in “Rolling Along” to get all the steps, then maybe you’re one of those who should be paying $6 – $10 for your patterns and not taking advantage of the free ones! Just sayin’ . . .
Speaking of Rolling Along, it’s been updated and all the parts are linked to the free pattern page.
OK . . to thank you all for sticking with me during the rocky past few weeks of “database error” messages and slow loads (or no loads), and to celebrate the good blog being back and have some fun, I’m going to do a few give-aways. During the weekend (Saturday and Sunday but maybe tonight), I’m going to throw out a question for discussion – could be quilt related, might not be. For a period of time, maybe an hour, maybe a few hours, maybe a day, you can leave comments and from those comments I’ll choose a winner of a $50 gift certificate. Can be either to the Fat Quarter Shop or, if you’re a knitter, it can be to The Loopy Ewe . . your choice.
Check back often to see what’s going on here this weekend! And, the question could be way down in a blog post so don’t let what your eyes see fool you!
Sarah in UpstateNY says
As much as I liked the font of the “new” blog, I really like the format of the old one. I like being able to easily “go back in time” to see older posts. Either way…the blog is great and I’ll keep reading regardless of what it looks like.
Debbie R. says
Did notice the blog is back to normal. Cool on the give a way, husband on call this weekend so will be staying close to home. gives me something to look forward to.
Roberta says
Glad you have the blog back to normal!!!!
Thanks for the give aways, will be watching the computer for posts. AND maybe more on the veggie garden, like a progress report. 😉
Hugs!!!!

Dear Judy, you give us readers so much of your time, even when you’re having difficulties – I can’t believe anyone could complain! Please carry on doing what you want, when you want to, and practically everybody will be hugely grateful.
Pam in KC says
Anyone who posts a free pattern — needs to be applauded and not fussed at because a post is running late or can’t be found. Having written a few patterns to use at a quilt retreat I go on each year, I truly believe most people don’t know what goes into a finished pattern — even after you tell them.
Pat Kattner says
Thank you for fixing the site so we could get the final steps. I am technologically challenged and did not know any other way to get the directions. Rolling Along is my first quiltalong and I have enjoyed doing it. Know it is very time consuming for you but please know that your readers appreciate what you do. I have enjoyed reading your daily posts and seeing how you are progressing. Thank you!
Mary C in WA says
It’s looking great and I’ll be checking back all week-end. I bet you are happy to not be in the path of the bad storms. I saw a weather map that went just barely around your state and thought of you. Thanks for all you do. I love the Fat Quarter shop.

I have noticed that Bonnie Hunter, occasionally, has to remind her followers that it is her blog and the patterns are hers to present how she wants to. I am always amazed that people complain about things that they get for free, especially when they are quality free things. Don’t stop doing what you do, I start my day with you and you always bring a smile to my face.
Perry says
I am so glad you are back. I was beginning to think it was my computer. I don’t understand people, Judy, and I continue to be amazed at the audacity of people who want something for nothing. I think this is another one of the ugly faces showing up in our ever- increasing socialistic society. I thank you for every thing you do and please just ignore the idiots who want something for free. They are becoming more numerous though, so I guess it is getting harder to ignore them. I am seeing lots of this expecting something on all of the blogs I read. Such a shame.
WiAmy says
Fantastic! Glad to see you are up and running and I can read comments and post some too.
Doreen says
Noticed the blog was back a few hours ago. Looks and loads nice. Have so amazed at the pace you have maintained through all of your ‘life issues’. I so enjoy your posts and really appreciate the patterns, recipes (yummy!) and continuing “Texas life” with you, Vince and Speck. Thanks a bunch and just ignore those “glass half empty” folks!-D Hugs

I am glad you are happy again and all is well. Leaving for Texas Sunday to stay in Dallas (Euless) area for a week. Hoping for warm weather.
Linda in NE says
I noticed how much faster your blog loads now. And it looks great.
You are so generous in sharing your patterns with your readers. With patterns the price they are you would think people would appreciate that instead of bugging you because they can’t be bothered to find the various parts that have been posted. They should be ashamed of themselves.
marion usborne says
I must be doing something wrong, I didn’t notice any major problems just a change of format. Looks good
Patricia says
Judy, Thank you sew much for all that you do. I love your blog. I blame you and my daughter’s mother-in-law for adding sock knitting to my list of hobbies. Nothing like pulling the socks out of my purse to knit while riding the bus.
Mary Jo says
I think that anybody that complains need to find something else to do. There is bound to be a blog out there that would keep them happy. I think you do a GREAT job, even though there is an occasional blip. Life is too short to let such little issues become such big issues! You are a great part of my day. If I miss a day of reading you blogs the first thing I do when I get back to my computer is catch up with you!
Debbie says
The blog looks great, Judy! If you are happy, that is all that matters.
If you need to be witchy with a “b” go for it! Honest to pete! I can’t believe people complain. Well…I guess I can. 🙂
No worries about me sticking with you. I still can’t manage my own blog very well. I like to redecorate and for me it is so difficult. I just am not computer savvy like the kids!!! 🙂 I keep plugging away at it though. I learn something new all the time!
Ginny says
Looks great! You get to do what you want with your blog, and sometimes stuff happens…..Life is not perfect and tomorrow is not a given…so be flexible and enjoy today is what I say. Thanks for the giveaway!
Karen says
The blog looks great. Easy to follow and I like the font. Glad that frustration is over for you. Enjoy your weekend. I’ll be unpacking and trying to find some sewing time.
Mel Meister says
Just a note to let you know how much your efforts are appreciated. I know this is going to sound like “arse kissin'” but it’s not. I do try and use your ideas and shortcuts to get through my days. I’m not always successful, but I probably wouldn’t even try if we hadn’t chatted.
I deeply appreciate your free patterns and since I read your blog several times a day, there’s not been a problem finding or following your instructions.
Mel Meister says
Btw… the blog font is easy to read.
Frankie says
Love the new font — super easy to read. And YAY for the blog being back to normal . . . it’s loading nice and fast now so a big THANKS for all the effort and work behind the scenes. Happy quilting & knitting Judy!
Margaret says
I love your blog and wanted to say thank you for all the free stuff. I never expect you to offer free but when you do I will certainly not complain if you are a little slow or don’t have it all to my liking. You do an awesome job. Keep up the good work. I enjoy spending part of my day with you every day.
Katie says
I’m so glad the blog is back to fully, properly functioning again! I read it every day and waited patiently for things to be sorted out, knowing that technology isn’t always easy. Please don’t let the complainers get you down. I enjoy reading and learning from your blog (I even grew my own sprouts last summer!), but even if you stop offering patterns for free, I won’t quit reading.
Carla in Ma says
To me the blog seams to be loading faster also, and the font is just fine. I know it takes a lot to keep it running and you can’t please everyone all the time.
I really enjoy checking your blog each day to see what you have been up too. There are days I laugh so hard I have tears running down my face. Then there are times I say why didn’t I think of that or that’s a cool way of doing that. Then there are time I think why the heck did she do that that way, but I love the results. So next time maybe I’ll try it your way or not. The mane thing is you make me think.
I thank you for all the quilts, and your patterns you have shared with us .
Thank you for taking the time to include us in your quilting, knitting, cooking and your life.
Reading your blog is a great way to start the day.
Helen says
I’ll be watching your blog (I ALWAYS do, though).
There are people who just complain. Nothing we can do about them, really, except pardon their fussiness as best we can.
Your blog is one I try never to miss, Judy. Please keep posting on all your happenings. It’s fun for me to keep up with your activities!
Hugs from Ohio
Linda B in MI says
thankyou for the pattern, Judy and thank Vince for getting rid of that scary bag on the fence, dogs should not be scared..
Helen Koenigl says
like the new look!
Re people kvetching about the pattern – I agree with what you said – if they didn’t read the blog and keep up with it – they really don’t have anything to complain about – you did post everything!
I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog – it’s like being invited into your kitchen for a cup of coffee and a good all around chat! Thank you!
Joan in NE says
Always wait for your daily visit to my computer. Love your new gadgets. Right now I can’t think of anything I want as I usually just get something if I will use it. The 14 qt canner could really save time. Mine only does 7 at a time, but figure I don’t need a larger one anymore. Lots of my canning is in pints now days. With just the two of us a pint is usually enough for us.
Pam K says
Hey, your blog is lookin’ really good. And your instructions are FREE, whats’ to complain about?
ursula says
I think I must be addicted to your blog. I check it everytime I sit at my computer. Thank you for sharing your life with us and for everything you do for us.
Sharon Spingler says
I’ll be honest, I check in with several times a day and never had a problem with your blog. But I like this much better.
Barbara Green says
You’re so generous to us! Free patterns, recipes, AND give-aways. So glad you got the blog straightened out!
Darlene S says
Judy, the blog looks fine to me. It loads faster and everything is good.
You amaze me at all you do with the same amount of hours in the day that we all have!! If only I could get as much done — or half a much I’d be pleased as punch!! You are one of a kind, and very special to us..
Terri says
Glad you’re back up and running smoothly. Looking good! Now I’m going to go catch up and make sure I didn’t miss anything 🙂
Bernice says
I love your blog. Design Wall Monday is so much fun, so many ideas.
A Left-Handed Quilter says
Love the new look – even like the new font! Sorry you were having problems – computers can be like fussy children sometimes, don’t you think? Can’t wait for the question – unless you already asked it – “Notice Anything New?” – you’re not being tricky, are you?? ‘Cuz – yeah, we did!! ;))
Vivian oaks says
Wow! You’ve sure received a LOT of replies today! I am trying to follow you every day, but there are days I just don’t get to it…. I can easily catch up, though, by clicking on the calendar on the left of the page. I hate asking for missing parts of patterns, and I couldn’t imagine having to answer dozens of questions about that. I’m sure it’s very aggrevating. THanks for all you do! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your patterns!
Kristin says
I liked the ‘old’ format better, but it’s not the end of the world having it this way. You are such a prolific poster that it’s hard to keep up with you and I have to go back several pages to find where I left off. Thanks for all the fun stuff you write about!
Peggy says
I am just glad you are back to blogging. I get my daily….hourly…..minute fix by reading your blog and just a few others. When I need to learn something new I can usually find it in a blog like yours. Have a great weekend.
Diane Hines says
Glad the blog is working better, tho I didn’t have much trouble with it. People who complain about free patterns don’t deserve them. You give so much of yourself, those of us who read your blog every day know how generous you are.
Marie Mann says
Glad your blog is fixed, love the new font, easy for older eyes to read.
Just don’t get the whingers, they need to get a life! I am just grateful for all of your blog, the insight into life in Texas, the receipes, (Waffles a re fabulous) and all the quilt stuff, You do have such a wonderful way with words, seems like you are just ‘over the road’ or ‘next door’ and talking just to me. Check your blog out at least 3x a day.
Thanks for all you do for the quilting and knitting and foodie world.
Cheers,
Marie from R’ham W.Aust.

Well, I’m out of town and currently on dial-up for the web. Talk about being slow., so I didn’t realize that anything was wrong with your blog.
Keep on doing what you’re doing…don’t let the turkeys get ya down….
And.. now to take a shower, dry my hair, get dressed and hope that the next page has loaded;-)
roccagal says
Yay I luv this new old format-easy peasy and clear! I would read your blog no matter what though-I luv it!
JoQuilter says
I guess have I quilted long enough to think that no one needs a pattern. When you design something, give them a few basic numbers, ie; finished block size and finished quilt size. After that they can figure it out themselves if they really want to make it. I started quilting 30 years ago when there were no pattern and all our quilts were so much more original then.
I really like all of your quilts as they are original. Keep up the good work and don’t like the negative comments/people get you down. My small quilt shop does not sell pattern or magazines. I have one original quilt that I make kits for but that’s all. It’s all about the fabric.
Have a great day.
