By the end of the retreat, most everyone had at least two finished tops to show . . many had more. I had one and all I had done was sew rows together. I visited! I visited a lot! As I told the retreaters . . I sew alone every day so being there with folks to talk to was a treat for me. And, you know I love to talk! 🙂
Today as I returned to the sewing room, I realized that I’m truly a sewing slug! I’ll sew really good when I have a deadline to meet but otherwise, I waste more time than anyone I know. I came up with a plan. I’ll do progress reports in the evenings and show what I started with each morning and what I ended with each evening. I’m not going to date the reports and some days there won’t be reports (if I didn’t sew!) so I’m just going to number them. Here we are on about day 51 of the year and this is Report #1. Wonder how many I’ll do this year . . at last two! 🙂 I do better when I’m accountable and knowing I have to report my progress might help me work better. I have a lot of quilts to make and a lot of stash to use!
The first photo (start of the day) in each day’s report will be the same photo I ended with in the previous day’s post. Make sense? Today I started out with the same thing that was on my design wall:
It was a day of making silly mistakes but here’s what I ended with:
These are blocks for the February Color Palette Challenge. It’s pretty different for me but I’m liking it!

This is weird, I was thinking about this same thing this weekend and about posting a daily photo only…..or something like that.

Love it.

I totally get the accountability thing – I just posted about that on my blog when I did my Sunday Stash report. You have made me more accountable to myself just by having that little report each week.
Beautiful quilt, by the way. I can’t wait to see the finished result.

You got more sewing done than I did. I don’t think I even went into my sewing room. But I have groceries and got to spend some fun time with the grands so it worked out pretty good. 🙂

What a great idea! I find the same thing, that wanting, or having to post about something, gives the incentive to work away on something. One reason why I like doing the Monday design walls so much.

Love how this one is turning out. Does this pattern have a name?

Looks like you got a lot accomplished today. I like they look of that so far.

I agree … I try to post a goal each week and a progress report as well. Sometimes it does force me to actually sew!

well, see…great progress. i do well when i make a list of what i want to do for the day. it keeps me focused. otherwise i waste hours on the computer.

So agree with all of the above! Guess that’s why we sort of have an “accountability need” built into each of us…..we need each other (on so many levels!-). Journaling/blogging helps me to see where I’ve been/started, where I am today and where I hope to go tomorrow. Great idea, Judy! Have thoroughly enjoyed your retreat posts!

This is a good idea, Judy. I’m going to give this kind of thing a lot of thought since I have been very scattered this month in my creativity zone. I did my #10 UFO instead of #1, which will still probably get finished.
It looks like a great weekend was had by all. Did any of the husbands help Vince? I know one woman said her husband was bringing his tool box!

Judy, the retreat was wonderful!! I feel like I accomplished soooo much!! Ready for next year already :-).
Headed to the hospital today….hubby is having ankle fusion surgery today…..already had 2 previous surgeries on this ankle…so we are hoping this will relieve his pain and he will be able to walk as much as he wants !!!!

I was in the only made progress group. Not tops completed but I think I found my quilty mojo. I am working on the rest of my rows for Orca Bay and hope to have the center completed this week! I had a lot of fun and it was nice to get my face out of my house worries.

I think this is a great idea! I’m a deadline-oriented person too and I also can waste a lot of time. For me it reading blogs–LOL!! I’m so inspired by them (judy!!) but all I do is collect ideas for new quilts but lose time to make them because I’m reading blogs. . . Catch 22!!
