The Carpenter’s Star pattern using half square triangles has been around forever. Mary has instructions for her version here. With the borders I’m using, my tops will measure about 60″ x 75″.
This has always been a favorite pattern of mine, haven’t made one in years. The borders look great and I might have to add this to my list as I like the size.
Thank you for the link to this beautiful quilt and its instructions. I think that I will make mine with top and bottom borders like yours for ease. Mary has an inspirational website, thank you for sharing it with us.

I love the borders on your quilt design. How do I figure out how to convert to larger triangles (without software!)??
Thanks!

I just finished one in zebras for my grandaughters birthday this month. I put 2 borders of purple around the edges then another black and it came out great. I hope she likes it 🙂

LOVE this pattern. Mary’s version is a perfect size for Quilts of Valor basic size and would look beautiful in R/W/B. I am cochair of a very active QOV committee within a lg (200) guild in SO FL. Plan to share. Just need to figure out how many HST blocks to make of each combination, did I miss that info in the directions and should I cut the colored squares 7″ and then cut down after making HST the traditional way? Appreciate any guidance here.
