Yesterday I left to go out of town and knew I wouldn’t have internet access while gone so I scheduled blog posts to automatically appear on the blog. Disaster struck Joplin and I felt horrible that I couldn’t even mention it on the blog because I had no internet access and with my regularly scheduled blog posts, it appeared I was ignoring the situation.
The situation is unbelievable. It’s bad enough when we hear about these things happening across the country but to see such loss of life and property in the area where we shop, eat; where our doctors are located . . unbelievable is the only word I can think of.
I just got in in from a very rough night in a cabin . . probably the most scared I have ever been! Just wanted to check in . . will write more later.

So glad to read that you’re safe and sound back at home. As those devistated by the damage begin to recover, would you consider doing a quilt drive through your blog? (I realize it would be dependent upon your own housing situation.)

Stay safe Judy! My husband just called from Harrison, OH and they have tornado’s around the area. He was going to try to make it back to Scottsburg, IN but decided to stop for the night. Thank goodness. Hope our trailer is still there when he does get back. He is working claims all through that area from the last bout of tornados. I don’t think I will see him for a long time.
Glad you are safe.

Judy,
As everyone has said we are all glad you are okay. Your area will be reeling from this for such a long time. It is so heartbreaking.
Thank you for letting us know you are safe.
My prayers are with everyone out in that area and areas hit by this and other disasters this spring.
If anyone ever tells me ” they will never live in Florida because of the hurricanes” —I will tell them that here we get a 10 day notice of storms….not a 10 minute or less.
My heart aches for the people of Joplin.
Take care

Glad to read you are okay. I thought of you as soon as I heard that there was a tornado in your immediate area. I also know a husband and wife longarm quilter team (Sandy and Richard King) who live in Joplin, and they are also both safe, although there is damage to their home and shop. I know how scary these tornadoes can be… we get them here too! My thoughts go out to those who have lost loved ones and homes or businesses.

Yes, unbelievable was the only word that came to my mind to…and then prayer. Prayers for the little girl who’s parents were yelling for the neighbors to take her and then they were killed. So, so sad!! Just so many stories…and then the stories of people coming together to help one another….and that is what we should do!
