Going to the dentist for the crown prep and temporary crown was enough to ruin my morning. My appointment was at 9:30 and that left me a couple of hours to do fun things before going to the dentist.
Yesterday I got smart! Knowing I would be up before Chad, I made a bunch of blocks that needed trimming. I can do that pretty quietly.
Chad needed to be at work at 9 and needed to have his truck to the shop before that so the plan was I would follow him to the shop. He would leave his truck there. I would take him to work and then I would go to the dentist. After trimming my blocks, I went upstairs, took a shower, got dressed and about 8:40, I went into the kitchen and the floor was wet!
It was coming from the fridge. I had no idea what to do. I tried to call Vince. I yelled for Chad to come up and we pulled the fridge out and turned off the water to the ice maker but it didn’t seem to be leaking from there. I called the appliance shop we do business with and probably sounded pretty frantic. The owner said he would send the guy, who happens to be his son and has worked on our appliances since we’ve been here. He said “He will be there in 5 minutes” and he was! Can’t beat that for service.
The seal on the water filter had cracked and that’s what was leaking. He fixed it and all was well again. Thankfully there wasn’t enough water to drip down onto my downstairs ceiling. Chad ended up taking his truck to the shop and getting the mechanic to take him on to work and I was about 20 minutes late for my dental appointment. I called them and told them I could not leave til the repairman finished and they were fine with that.
The good thing was . . after dealing with the fridge, the crown prep wasn’t such a big deal.
But for now, I’m going to take a nap and then I’m going to sew. I should be able to finish the Road to Brownwood top tonight. Did I say that on Monday too? 🙂

Why is it that things like that always happen when you’re trying to sell a house? I’ve had flooded basements and leaking roofs just before first showings….aargh!

A close one! Good thing you and Chad were there.
Judy, where do I look to see your demo on binding by machine?
Cannot remember how wide you cut the binding! I do remember that you pin close and go slow, but not as slow as by hand. I’ve used your method before but it’s been awhile. Thanks!

Oh my gosh. I feel your pain, in so many ways. I have to have a tooth pulled in a couple of weeks, and then I’ll go through the six-month (or so) process for an implant. We had the same problem with our refrigerator a few years ago. And then, a pipe fitting broke in the upstairs bathroom, flooding the basement. We got pretty much a whole new basement after that. Then, a year later, the water heater sprung a leak, again flooding the basement. The insurance company continued to pay up each time. I was afraid they’d think we were defrauding them the third time around . . . but who wants to deal with that mess! I think they took pity on us.

Oh gosh, I am glad you were home! That reminds me of once when my family and I were on a vacation weekend and came back to my kitchen floor covered with water, dripping down to my finished basement. All caused by a leaking ice maker that wasn’t installed properly by the repair man on our new fridge. Appliance store ended up paying for our new floor which required a new subfloor plus ceiling downstairs etc. What a nightmare.

Don’t you just hate it when things like this go wrong and DH isn’t home to handle it? You did a great job though, Judy and it sure is good news that it didn’t ruin your downstairs! Hope the rest of your day went well.

Just remember Judy L that God will not give you more than you can handle – but you will wish he did not have so much confidence in you. Judy C sends her best

That is too wierd for words. We’ve been dealing with something similar. A little bit of water on the floor, but mostly water on the bottom of the freezer compartment (that then freezes).

you are lucky you were home when it happened! I had the water supply line start leaking on my fridge in the middle of the night one time – and it flooded the whole kitchen 2” deep! soaked the adjoining carpet, got into the heating ducts, even dripped down into the basement below! It was a MESS! I just turned off the water supply to it though and don’t have auto-made ice anymore 🙁 Maybe someday I’ll fix it, but I’m a bit gun-shy about it now!
