I almost feel like I should apologize for the number of times over the past year that I’ve said “How do you like the new blog?” But .. How do you like the new blog? The new blog is made with Thesis. Some of the things I needed to do with the previous template just didn’t work well and was too hard to do. Thesis has hooks and that makes it so much easier for most things.
Any problems that you see? Yesterday a reader commented about having trouble finding the “next” and “previous” post links so I added those at the top of each post. When you click on a specific post, at the top of that post you will see “next” and “previous”.
For the comments, I didn’t like the box for leaving a comment at the very bottom of all the other comments that had already been left. Sometimes I just don’t have the time to read or even scroll through every comment ahead of mine but if you look at the bottom of the post, it says “Comments . . read them below or add one” and “add one” is a link. Just click on that and you’ll get right to the area where you start typing your comment.
I think I’m noticing that clicked links are not a different color. I’ll check on fixing that.
I’m liking the clean white background. It doesn’t seem too bright or boring, does it?
Anything you see that you would like for me to change? Not guaranteeing I’ll be able to figure it out but if you suggest something that I think will work, I’ll be glad to see what I can do.

Looks good to me.

I’d love if you changed the setting that put the entire post in google reader. I do enjoy your blog. Good luck with finding a house!

Clean, neat and easy to read. Sounds like just the fix for your “wildlife.”
Nina-Marie says
(respectfully I say) I find the ads really distracting. The printed ads never bother me but with them moving now and changing – its hard to concentrate on your great blog! (IMHO – I could be wrong of course!)
Alma says
I have to agree with Nina-Marie. The ads seem much more outstanding- almost overpowering the text.
Have you ever considered a web page that is ad free? I know it is more expensive, but sure is nicer. We did a web page for an organization and that is the first thing we sought out. Ad free!
JudyL says
The ads have nothing to do with my hosting site. I pay for my site — it is not a free site. The ads are income producing ads from BlogHer Network.
Marilyn says
I like the white background. Easy to read.

Your blog is the first one I check everyday and somtimes more then once a day. I do like the white backgroung – very easy to read. One of the things I hate about some blogs is the music that plays when you first get to the site. It is often loud and when I am trying to sneak in some blog reading at work, it gives me away! Plus the fact that everyone has different tastes in music – so bottom line please don’t add music during one of your changes or make the background black and I will probably never complain about anything you do.
Marla says
I know what you mean about music on blogs. I been almost caught at work before doing that!
Sue H says
I like it. The first word that came to mind was “clean”, like several others have said.
Pam says
Your blog. You are the boss. Whatever you want to do is fine with me. I will read no matter what.
Hugs.
Ellie says
I like it. Clean and clear.
Connie says
Works for me and looks great. 🙂
Lynne in Hawaii says
I second Pam! Your blog…I’m gonna read it regardless! Do what you want and what makes you happy!
Debbie says
I find changing a blog is like rearranging the furniture. It keeps life interesting. I agree with Pam and Lynne – you are the boss of the blog! It is nice of you to ask. 🙂
Sandy K says
I like the white so much easier for me to read.
WiAmy says
I enjoy your blog , patterns and recipes! What works for you will work for me. I see that on the free pattern link, some comments have been left, but at the bottom is says comments are closed. Did you intend to do that or is it something that just automatically happens?
Karen says
I like it. Easy to read and follow.
Terri says
I like it. It loads quickly, even when you have lots of pictures (which I love!!). You’re the Queen, so whatever you want to do I’ll still come visit!
Marilyn Smith says
Judy, I have always read your blog and will continue. PW has ads on her site as well. Yours is the first I read every morning. I don’ make a comment every day – I just love reading about what is going on in your life. I click on stash reports and design wall and really enjoy them. I love your chicken posts, family posts, house hunting posts and recipes. Your blog covers just about all I could ever want!
Gwen says
I will always be a reader! I do like the cleaner look. I also appreciate the feature that allows going directly to the comment box. Thanks for all your efforts to present all you knowledge and inspiration. Hugs!
Marla says
I liked your blog before, (my very first one I read every day) and I like your blog now. Looks very nice!
Darlene S says
Judy, I also like to read your blog and follow your life, so whatever you do on the blog is ok by me — unless I can’t get to it!! 🙂 Dar in MO
Mel Meister says
I’m not fond of the new blog, but who am I to quibble? You have the right to do what you want and love to do. I’ll get used to it.
Thank you for making the “next and previous” posts easier to find though!
I have to add my 2 cents about the advertising, too. It’s very distracting. I do understand why the ads are there though.
What I find is funny though, I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from an annoying ad! If only the advertisers realized that a lot of people feel the same way!
Happy Room Diana says
The only advertisement I do not like is the flashing one before adding a message [ on the same page as add a message ]. As I write this there is a football match advertising Mars Bars full in my face… very anoying! Side ads are easy to read to skip.

Do what you are happy with…you cannot please everyone
Shirley Albertson Owens (sao) says
I really like it!!! And it is SO NICE not to have to scroll through all of the comments on those occasions when one is in a rush crunch! 🙂
Have a lovely day!

Just glad to have you back. Everthing looks great.

I’m happy, if you’re happy. I find it easy to read and navigate. Then again, I didn’t have any problem with the old blog style. Just call me, “Easy to please.”

It was 48 degrees here in Baton Rouge this morn when I got the dog’s breakfast going.
What do I hope to accomplish today? I have been putting off cleaning the bathrooms, maybe I will get to it today…………and I need to finish a block from Volume 4 Quiltmaker and who knows what else DiNozzo will chew up today.

sorry to say i do not like it – the white , the moving ads, the ads and the constant going back and forth to read 1 days – i liked it before – very cosy and inviting – feel this has no appeal to me now – but you asked and it’s your blog
