Now that you’ve all had some time to get used to the new blog, which one do you like better . . the new one or the old one? If you can’t remember the old one . . then let’s assume you like the new one better.
If you have a definite reason for voting one way or the other, please explain it to me. You won’t hurt my feelings . . I didn’t create the blog. But, I do want to know what you think.
Jay in Nebraska says
I preferred the older one better, only because I think it was easier to use, and I don’t like the stuff at the bottom. I find the font type is a bit harder to read. Don’t hate me Judy! I just tell it like it is, whether people want to hear it or not. I love your blog, just my opinion, which probably doesn’t count for much!
Diana W. says
I like the old one better. The new one is very stark looking. It has a more “clinical feel” if you will. My biggest complaint is the link font not changing to a different color after being clicked so we can see where we are. It might just be me, but I can’t remember which blog I was looking at and will click it over again. It is frustrating.
No matter how your blog looks, we will still follow you. I love your blog!
Denise :) says
I like the new one better! It feels cleaner and less cluttered than the old one, which is appealing to me! 🙂
lw says
I also preferred the old site.
Kelly Ann says
I like the new header…it’s cleaner looking..or maybe it’s fresher…either way I like it…
Marky says
I agree with Jay in Nebraska; I like the old one better and found the font easier to read. But however it looks, I’ll be reading it every day!
CarolE says
I definitely like the new one better. I’m never too sure why I like one thing more than another — I just know what I like.
Julie says
I prefer the old blog format, it seems to me that it was easier to read.
Deb Myers says
Links at the bottom? Ooops … didn’t even know they were there until I read a comment preceeding mine. I never stroll to the end of the page, only read the first entry at the top of the page on a daily basis. I think the links would get better noticibility (that’s a word, right??!?) if they were listed at the top along with/under your other 6 categories…just a thought. It’s been soooo long (for my brain) since you introduced your new blog, I honestly can’t/don’t remember what the old one looked like! BUT, I do remember the day I discovered the new blog….I didn’t much care for it~~ for me. It seemed, empty, maybe? … like things were missing; just harder to find things, somehow. I certainly have figured out that many days you post several times daily. So, guess what? I check and read your blog….several times daily!! But, like so many before me have said… I’ll still be reading your blog, no matter what!!!!
Rita E says
I liked the old one better the first couple of times I visited the new one. But I must confess that I have since forgotten what the old one looked like and what I liked better about it. I like to come to your blog every day – I have such a short memory I probably couldn’t find it if I skipped a few days.
The older I get the harder it is for me to accept any change so I assume that caused my initial reaction more so than preferring one format over the other.
Cynthia H., El Cerrito, CA says
Old blog, please. More posts per page; when I want to read comments, I’m sent to the *beginning* of the comments and not to the *end* of them; the font is more eye-friendly (and in real life I do typography and editing, also a bit of print layout design–what’s left of it!); links/additional information are alongside the blog entries in a companionable way rather than being “lost” at the very bottom of the page.
Thank you for asking. 😀
Pam says
It’s up to you.
I like the header and am use to the format.
Do what is easiest for you. Just keep blogging and sharing.
Nancy says
so I guess I like the new one better, cause i don’t remember the old one…
Helen says
old!
Sandy says
Liked the Old one 200 times more.
Jane says
I think I’m with Pam. Either suits me. I just enjoy your blog.
Barb in MI says
Either blog design works for me. In general I very much like it when once in a while you do a post with a link for example to show all your 2010 projects… I know I can get there without your ‘help’, but it makes it sooo much easier, especially when you are on a lunch break, trying to brighten up the day a bit. Guess I am getting older and need more help to ‘remember’ all the good stuff on your site 🙂
Bobbie23nc says
Handsdown, I like the new one best. I thought the header was such a good change when I first saw it and then it disappeared and I got worried. I enjoy your blog so much but I’ve never taken the time to tell you so in the past. You are an encourager to me and when I get to feeling lazy I just stop by and see what you are doing. I usually find a little motivation. I’ve used your recipes, your tutorials, and learned I want some chickens, I’m trying to convince my husband, who interprets the neighborhood covenances different than I do, that chickens really can be considered pets. Thanks Judy.
Chris says
I, too, liked the old better. Somehow it was friendlier–like you! 🙂 I keep waiting for the color to come into this one and then I remember it’s white. On the other hand, if I want to comment, it’s nice not to have to scroll through all the comments to get to the comment box.
All that said, it’s your blog! What do YOU like best? 🙂
Sue in Scottsdale, AZ says
I’m used to this look now but I find it difficult to find old posts and other helpful info you had posted on the old blog. For example, this past weekend I was looking for the information on how you use EQ to create your quilts. If I remember, there were several posts and I wanted to refresh my memory – I was trying to create a pieced border in EQ and couldn’t find a way to do it. I could not find any of these posts. You used to have more helpful info on your side bar.
Bec says
I don’t remember what the old one looked like but I like it and I like this one. I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to the bells and whistles-I just get on and read.
Karin says
I also liked the font on the old site better – and the stark white background isn’t appealing to me either. I do love the new header though, and I would follow your blog no matter what color and layout you had 🙂
swooze says
I don’t like change but I do adjust. Besides it doesn’t matter if WE like it, it matters if YOU like it.
bev/mo says
liked the old one better….not sure why…the looks of it, I think…..
Tina says
I like the new banner and the new font.
Vicky says
I’m going to be here no matter what the format looks like. I guess that means you’re stuck with me!!
Vicky says
Oh, wait, there is one thing. How do I copy the link for just one post when I want to refer to it, say, on my blog? I end up just copying your whole blog link, which is okay, but I don’t know how to send someone to the specific post I’m talking about.
Ruth C says
I liked the old one. I don’t know if either one looks any better, but if I haven’t read all of the entries one by one and there is more than one for me to read, it was easier to get to them all using the list on the right side of the old blog. Other than going to the month archives, which appears to involve at least one more step, I haven’t figured out how to do that on the new blog.
Bizzybess says
I like things about the new setup but for the majority I prefer the old. The colors were more calming, and I found it easier to navigate around.
Mary Jo says
The old one, definitely.
Kathy B in TN says
I liked the old set up much better. You even teased us by switching back for a bit. 🙂 This one – too much white and it seems all spaced out. I don’t remember the ads taking up so much of the screen before. I miss the list down the side of your recent posts. Somedays I have to play catch up and with the new setup I have to pull up each one – can’t just jump to one that sounds interesting (or if there’s a way, I haven’t found it.) Of course, it’s your call. I noticed that a lot of blogs have revamped and restyled lately …….
Linda in MI says
I like the new one….not that there was anything wrong with the old one….enjoy them both….very much!
Sandy Gail (Sandra Neel Hutchins) says
When you ask me something you get a no frills, totally honest, no brown nosing response. Your old header was so much more pleasing to the eyes. Sometimes I would enjoy just looking at the pink checks, the lovely old sewing machine, the chicken, the pretty blue part of the header. The colors were easy on the eyes. The new header seems to lack something, almost like a first grader colored it.
The new font is way too light and not bold enough print.
It was so much easier to navigate the old blog format.
However, I don’t read your blog any less because you changed the format.
Gina E says
I like the font on the old one a bit better (color, serif, etc). I also liked how I would click on a link in Mr. Linky and it would put a small box around what I clicked on so when I came back I knew where I was on the list.
Jennifer says
I like the colors on the new one better, and the general layout. I miss that I can’t easily read from one post to the other (older/newer post buttons), and it seems that there are some links missing from the side, but I couldn’t tell you which ones…so you can tell that I don’t use them all that much!
Sheryl says
You know I’ll read your blog regardless. This one has absolutely no personality imnsho and the white background, thin, light colored fonts are killers on my eyes. Reading the print is uncomfortable but I do read it cause I love ya. It’s stark and cold….nothing at all like you. I actually liked the one before the previous one best but I don’t think that was a choice was it? Lol. I’ll continue to read whatever you decide to do. 🙂
Joan M. Herrera says
I like the new font better as the larger type is much easier to read.
Anita says
The font is hard on the eyes, especially if one has low vision, and the stark white is harsh … not inviting. I’ve never met you, but from reading your blog I believe you to be a warm and generous person. But as long as you write a blog I’ll read it!
Lizzy Hentze says
I can’t really remember the old one too well, and, as others have said, I will continue to read regardless. I tend to like clean, uncluttered pages, so I think I’d probably go with this newer format on that front but I think the other format was easier to navigate!
Linda Steller says
I preferred the old style also, but the important part of a blog is what you write — so, I’ll always read your blog. It’s fun, it’s informative, and it’s very creative!
Love ya Judy!
carol c says
i too, liked the older one, like the chicken though
Linda H says
I’ll have to agree with some of the other commenters that readability and warmth are on the short side with the new one. Actually, the lack of color seems a bit ironic in a quilting blog. 😉 But the above will not stop me from coming back. I don’t read it for the colors. I read it for your posts.
Cari J. says
My vote is for the old one. It had more personality. I liked finding the links on the side bar. It was much easier to go back months instead of days in search of an item or entry.
Cari J
Sarah N says
I love the fresh clean look of the new blog!
Debbie says
Honestly, I can’t remember what the old blog looked like. I visit every day, sometimes twice or more (today – 3) because I enjoy reading what you write. The pictures are always quite fun as well. It really is sweet of you to ask but I believe the decision is yours to make. I’m coming back no matter what your blog looks like. It will never be dull, that’s for sure!!!
ruth anne says
The only reason I like the old one better is using the search features. I went to try to show a photo of chicken coop to visitors and I can’t find it. The old one i could put in key phrase (at least I thought I could–LOL) and find anything I had viewed previously. I think the old one was more user friendly. I also tried looking for Rice Casserole Italiano. But I am not going to do anything but appreciate what you do for us!!!
Keryn says
I liked the older site much better; I’ll still read your blog, even if it was a red background and white writing, (my personal hate) but I really don’t like all the white on the new blog, too cold and stark. Bring back the colour.
Richelle Robinson says
I guess the new one, can’t even remember the differences now. It’s always been great!
Melinda says
The only problem I have with the new one is with Mr. Linky. On the old one, the font color changed on the ones I had read – I find it difficult to keep track of where I am on the list. If this could change, I would be happy.
Valarie says
I like the old blog better, I get your initial post from RSS feeds and then click on view article to read the entire post. I don’t miss any posts and enjoy reading every word you write. That’s why I visit to enjoy reading, but it’s your house so decorate it to suit your taste, not mine. I visit your blog (house) to see you, (hear your words) not to inspect your home’s decor. I know your advertisers do not want to hear this but I hardly notice what’s on the sidebar….sorry….But I don’t read ads in magazines either.
Maxi says
I cannot tell you how much I look forward to your blog every day. It is simply a bright spot in the day. Thank you for so faithfully doing this.
The old one was easier to read for me, so it gets my vote. I will read it in any format you choose but I find that I am not checking through the site quite as often now (I had not thought of that until you posed your question.)
JoanS says
I liked the old one better. But like so many of your other commenters, I’ll still read you several times a day regardless of how the site looks.
Sandy says
I preferred the old one. This one is harder to read and seems a bit “clinical” in feel because of all the white expanses.
Angie says
I vote for the old one.
I do like the Patchwork Times header with the hen on this new blog.
For a better word, this format has a more “commercial look”, and not that warmth your old blog did. I also don’t know why, but below the banner where it says: Home Quilting Free Patterns EQ Projects Tutorials—the word Cooking drops down and wraps way over to the far left margin. It seems like that word could be captured onto the above text line, or the other words could be spaced differently so the word “cooking” could be on the same long line. Maybe it’s my computer that is seeing it that way too—I don’t know. But, the line of text looks incomplete at this time as I view it. Just my 2 cents worth.
Love reading your blog, so none of this really important in the scheme of things on a whole.
Gloria says
The old one was much more to my liking. I still read your blog and enjoy it, but if I happened on it for the first time now….it wouldn’t get me to stop and visit. I came to your blog because of the quilting, but enjoy the other subjects as well. Now the blog looks to me like it’s mostly about a poultry farm.
Beryl says
I prefer the old blog, and not just because I don’t like change. There was nothing wrong with the old, so why change it…but I love reading it every day regardless of the layout! Thanks Judy
Ray says
I love your blog no matter what!! I liked the old layout better.
Gwen M says
I like the old blog. It was so easy to use.
Patty says
What works for you works for me. I appreciate the time you devote to your blog.
Lori in SD/NE says
old blog
that one was more friendly looking. When I saw it, there was an immediate association with you.
pdudgeon says
old please, less glaring white, friendlier headder, and i like pics better than drawings.
katieQ says
I have to be honest, it is the content that matters to me rather than the look. I love the things you write about. I guess you could say I’m addicted. I don’t have any problems with the new format. I would keep reading if you wrote out the words using twigs, rocks, or smoke signals.
Deb says
I like both. One thing I liked about the other one, is for Design Wall Monday, when you clicked on a name, it was highlighted. I like that feature, as I always forget where I am. If you can bring that back, that would be great. when you have a slow computer, reckicking is precious time used to check things out. Alot of times I end up giving up, and I do like seeing what people are doing!
Karla says
I definitely like the new one, but I would read either one.
Carol says
I don’t have any preferences. I’ll read your blog no matter what it looks like. I do prefer to have the rest of the links on the right rather than at the bottom. If I see them, I’m more likely to use them. And having them there fills in that expanse of white next to all the comments.
