Ours is an Excalibur.
CJ recommended it last year (or maybe year before) and it works great. Anything CJ recommends, I usually go right out and buy! 🙂
Chad makes jerky often and the Excalibur does a perfect job with that. I’ve dried peaches, apples, strawberries, green beans, onions, bell peppers, and I can’t remember what else and have never had a complaint with it. It’s another one of those things that if it went out tomorrow, I’d order another one that same day! It’s big enough to do a whole lot of stuff at once but if I needed to use it for just a couple of trays, it would be fine too. I think Chad did about 12 or 15 pounds of venison last week when he made jerky and it was close to being full.

I make jerky quite often in mine too. Do you think Chad would mind sharing his marinade/brine recipe??? I always use the same recipe, it’s a good one but I’d like to try something different.

This past week he made four different recipes. Three were great and one didn’t have much flavor. We all loved the one he called “Cidered”. I think he either used apple cider or cider vinegar in it. He’s out of town but I’m sure he would love to share is recipe. I’ll get it from him when he gets back tomorrow.

I have that same Excalibur…and love it. We’ve done herbs, apples, zuchinnis, cherries, apricots, strawberries (not my favorite), but haven’t tried jerky yet. I loaned it out to my nice Boss Lady to dry several loads of apricots. With 9 trays, it will hold alot.

Forgot the onions and peppers too. I am planning to try the wild garlic cloves sliced. We seem to have an abundance of wild garlic!

Well it’s a mutual thing Judy. LOL I ran out last week and bought a Shark steam vac, I’ve been considering one since we spoke about one what… a year ago? And since you were kind enough to test it out first, I bought one too! LOL

Judy, I’m afraid you are influencing me too. After reading about the Shark and the many others who raved about it, I went out yesterday and bought one. Tried it today but was not as easy to push around as I thought it would be. Maybe it will get easier as the pad was real dry at first (it said to wash before using, but I was too much in a hurry to to do that!) It worked good and the floor was so clean feeling on my bare feet. I know my kitchen floor will get clearned more often because of it. Thanks.
Now I ned to know if your dehydrator has a temperature control. I have a small one and you open vents to control the heat for different foods. This is a hit and miss type of thing with me. Dar

I have used a Shark steam vac for about a good while now…since they first came out…and it is wonderful! Definitely better than wringing a mop out, and much more sanitary. i also use it on my wood floors once in a while. Other floors I have are ceramic tile and it is wonderful on them also.
