I’ve blogged about it before but Bingo-Bonnie has a post on her blog now about the quilt being used to raise funds to help the Bridge City, TX library, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Ike. Check it out and if you’re so inclined, Bonnie has the info on how you can get your chance to win this quilt and help a worthy cause. While looking at the damages, this picture got my attention . . but it wasn’t the damage. It was the bridges! Ughh!

I wonder how many other bridges are there. The city is called Bridge City. We have, I think 7 bridges in Portland, OR, which I remember moving here thinking wow concrete city and bridges.

Actually there are 10 bridges here in Portland if you count the St. Johns, the Sellwood and the Ross Island bridges. Luckily we DO NOT have tolls like they had in NY/NJ where I grew up.

Judy, when there was one bridge (on right) it was 2 way traffic with a narrow “sidewalk” on each side!!! Now, that was scary!!! They have since taken the “sidewalks” off and made it one way and built the bridge to the left.
And Lori, Bridge City doesn’t even come close to all the bridges in Portland.
BTW, I lived in Pt Neches (right across the bridges shown) and my daughter lives in Portland!!

I’ve driven across those bridges and even though I am not afraid of bridges, they looked daunting. But the drive over them was easy peasy.
