Vince woke me at 4 this morning complaining of pressure in his chest and feeling like he couldn’t breathe so we went to the hospital in our little town. They did a couple of tests, which showed he at least was not having a heart attack. There’s no cardiologist in our town so they sent him by ambulance to Joplin. I went home and showered, waited for daylight to let the chickens out. I could have let them out earlier but I was scared to go back there in the dark by myself.
Now we sit at the hospital in Joplin waiting for more tests. I’m hoping everything checks out and we get to go home tonight . . I’m also wishing I’d gone to bed before 1 a.m. this morning. It’s impossible to sleep in this straight chair . . we’re still in ER.
I stuffed sock yarn, the Kindle and the netbook in my bag but I’m wishing I’d brought my pillow. When they come to get Vince for his tests, if they say he’s going to be gone for an hour, I’m going to my car to take a nap!
And, if they say he’s going to be gone for two hours . . I’m going down the road to get sushi! 🙂

Judy, I’m sorry you are having to go through this ’emergency’ with Vince. Hope they find it’s a gas bubble or something else simple. Smart girl to grab something to keep your hands busy. Prayers that it’s nothing serious and you can go home and get some sleep.
Dianne B. in England says
What a relief it wasn’t a heart attack. I was so worried for you Judy after I saw your post on FB. You and Vince are both in my prayers. Hope they let you go home soon. Take care, sweetie.
Karen says
Been there, done that with Bob. Patience is definitely a requirement for ER visits. I’m glad they sent him on for additional tests – the blood tests only show if a heart attack has occurred, not if there’s any blockage etc. I’ll be thinking & praying. Keep us posted.
d says
I hope all turns out well, I’ll be thinking of you.
Julie says
Judy: I, too, hope that Vince is fine and it was nothing serious. I’m glad you could grab something to occupy your time – waiting in the ER is awful. Take care – prayers being sent for you and Vince.
Linda says
I’m sending positive thoughts that Vince will be just fine your way. At least it wasn’t a heart attack & if there are blockages it’s been caught in time to do something about it. Sitting around in waiting rooms is the pits, even if you have things to do. Hang in there.
call me crazy says
Oh my~ I feel sorry for both of you, the ER is not some place you want to visit. Hoping all the tests turn out great!
Natalie says
god bless! i hope everything works out – i’m sure it will! the important thing is that you went to the doctor immediately instead of ignoring the pains. you’re in good hands!
Kathie L. says
I’m glad you’ve moved to a place with better diagnostic tests. This is nothing to take likely. Hope all is well. Kathie L.

Hope everything Vince is alright and you both get to go home soon.

Good golly, I guess I should read what I typed before hitting submit. Meant to say “Hope Vince is alright and you’ll both get to go home soon”.
Toni says
Thank goodness you were home when this happened. Hope all goes well. I’ve been through this with my husband many times.

Hi Judy,
I’m sending positive thoughts and warm wishes your way. Best of luck and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

More positive thoughts to both of you. Kinda made me chuckle to think one of the things you never seem to be without is your camera. At least Vince is smiling for the camera!
peggy says
Another thing I justed noticed in the picture. He’s using the netbook. We are all so “connected” these days!
Sue Lord says
Hope everything is okay with Vince. Prayers for the both of you.

I hope everything turns out well for Vince! Scary stuff, but fortunately not an MI. I also hope you can sneak a nap in there, somewhere.
Glenda says
Oh Judy, I know you are really worried ! I’ll worry with you ! Hope that find everything cardiac wise is ok and he has a reflux problem. That can mimic a heart attack too. Just crawl up in that bed when he goes for his test !!! You both are in my thoughts. Glenda

Praying right now that this will be a minor issue! blessings, marlene
Pam says
Wow. Good thing you were home.
Hugs and prayers.
Bobbie says
I’m off of here for a few hours and look what happned–hope you know what “the deal” is now and all is well. About the same thing happned to me 4 or 5 years ago–no heart attack but a blockage in one artery–put s stint in and haven’y had any problems since that. Just a overnight stay–wasn’t bad at all. Hope Vince doesn’t even have that, but just “gas” Hugs, Bobbie
Julie says
Hi dear Judy…I am so sorry for you and your dear Vince. I bet he will stay overnight, which is probably a good thing, and ekgs/lab work/stress test? Maybe? My dear husband did this three years ago and required a stent and it fixed him. My heartfelt prayers are with Vince and with you. Hugs!!
Sandy says
So sorry to hear of your emergency. You and Vince are in my prayers.
This happened to us ( I was the patient) 14 years ago and I had chest pain while vacuuming and it sent me to the hospital to find I had a 90% blockage in my aorta. Luckily no damage was done to my heart (it sounds like Vince didn’t either, whew) and after I had the catheterization I have been fine ever since. Hoping Vince will be back home soon and healthy. ((( Hugs)))
Mary says
Not fun at all for you or Vince — I hope that it turns out to be nothing serious. Keep us in the loop…..
Freda Henderson says
I’m so sorry Judy. I hope Vince don’t have any major problems and is able to go home soon.
KatieQ says
I’m glad they were able to rule out a heart attack.
Aren’t you the smarty for having the presence of mind to grab your knitting and your netbook. I’m not ready to think about giving up books on paper, but it must be great to have your kindle with you.
You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
Pat says
I’m glad it worked out well today and hope any follow-up tests go fine, too. I’m guessing he is at the age where he is probably going to be given some dietary restrictions to ward off serious heart problems…..and I’m guessing that will mean some recipe modifications for you. *sigh*
Just Me says
Judy,
You are in my thoughts and prayers for sure.
I went thru heart problems 5 years ago with my husband and even though he had to have major surgery, it was 100% successful. God has granted us a new lease on life.
So glad you are in a spot to get a good diagnosis.
Mama Pea Quilts says
Now if this had happened after the big turkey dinner, you’d know what to blame it on! Sending best wishes that all turns out well for you and Vince.
Judi says
I’m glad to hear he is home and the stress test turned out okay. Here’s hoping it was just indigestion.
Ruthie says
I hope you’re both back home and have gotten to take a little nap. Hope he’s feeling better!
Henrietta says
Positive thoughts, warm wishes, take care of yourself too.
Jocelyn says
Oh my goodness Judy, I hope that everything is okay with Vince. Take care, and get some rest if you can.
Marta says
Espero todo salga bien para ambos. A veces estos sustos ayudan a realizar chequeos como prevencion. Un abrazo, estarán en mis oraciones
