What is it about my husband that he cannot be satisfied with my computer? He has a couple of laptops (all serve different purposes apparently) and two desktops — one for Windows; one for Linux. Wouldn’t you think as long as I’m not complaining about my computers, he wouldn’t worry too much about what I’m using? Wrong. I got a new laptop in July. I know this because I blogged about it. I got a new desktop in August. I know this because I blogged about it. I thought I was perfectly happy but, little did I know!
This all started because (1) There was a good sale on laptops and Vince cannot pass up a good sale and (2) Chad isn’t crazy about the laptop Vince got him to take to college. We were going to go to Fort Scott Wal-Mart this morning but Vince decided to call our Wal-Mart just to make sure they didn’t have any of the computers he was going to get. Guess who answered the Wal-Mart phone? Yep, Chad! He and Vince discussed the computer issue. Chad told Vince there’s a computer at our store that he really likes.
My right eye is still bothering me when I use my laptop. Vince decided I’d get a new laptop and we’d give my 5 month old laptop to Chad and he will be happy and I will be happy and everyone will be happy. So, that’s what’s happening. I got this one. Paid about half that price for it though! I’m very happy to be getting back to a bigger screen – 17″. My Toshiba that I had before the HP had a bigger screen and I loved it. I use my laptop more as a second desktop . . it pretty much stays on the desk in the kitchen. If I’m sitting on the sofa, there’s a dog on my lap . . not a computer. I suppose if I used it really on my lap, I might like a smaller version better.
Wal-Mart wasn’t bad this morning. You have to remember that if every one in our town went to Wal-Mart at the same time, the parking lot still wouldn’t be full! 🙂 And, I’ve never seen a Wal-Mart like the one we have here . . there are always plenty of checkers. Wish I could say the produce was always fresh and pretty.
We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and that included a 9 minute computer discussion with Chad since he works in the electronics department. Yes, Chad . . we’re getting the one you want us to get. Let us go home! Vince wanted to go out for breakfast but I didn’t want to do that . . we have plenty of eggs at home! 🙂 Came home, cooked breakfast, put the split peas and ham bone in the crockpot and now I’m loading software.
Electric Quilt and Adobe CS3 are installed. (First things First!) Still to go . . Microsoft Office, PaintShop, Mozilla . . this will take the rest of the afternoon! 🙁
Hopefully I will not get another computer for a very long time!

well, don’t keep us in suspense….
what happened to the original lap top that Vince bought for Chad to take to college?

That’s one reason I don’t replace computers until they die – I hate doing all of the set up, software loading and getting used to the quirks of the new system. I hope this one works for you for a long time!

Well… I do the exact same thing to my hubby. He’s content with the same computer until it’s a freaking dinosaur, but I’m the one who has to keep it running, so we replace them sooner than he’d like, LOL

Hey, would Vince like to buy ME a computer? I don’t really need a new one, but I sure wouldn’t mind one like yours. [grin] Just thank the man nicely and enjoy.
VERY cold & wind here today, I heard the radio say something about a -33 wind chill. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I’m glad you got a new computer although I agree that setting it up is a real pain. It was nice that Walmart was such an easy experience.
Hope the weather doesn’t get real nasty.
