Soon, I have to cross this bridge! This is one of the arches but there are three of them. The picture below is from the aerial view from Mapquest.
Looks pretty scary for someone afraid of bridges, huh? I have a driver all lined up to go with me. There’s no way I could do it. I got this sinking feeling in my tummy just looking at it on the internet.

hi
I am petrified of bridges … especially high ones and ones with low sides …. stay in the middle lane if possible and stare straight ahead … breath deeply and say I can do this, I can do this … this experience soon will pass … luck … Jean

I’ll be thinking of you. I’m going to Hershey for the quilt show and from Long Island there are a couple of bridges I have to deal with. I feel your pain and will think of you while crossing the Verrazano-a really big (and very old bridge)…ugh!

big hugs for you, I know it’s hard, but you have been successful in the past and dag nabit, you can do it again!!

I can relate to you bridge fears. I have to cross the Mackinac Bridge several times a year to get my son to/from college and I absolutely hate it!
Connie says
Just close your eyes, hide your head and let the driver handle it. I wouldn’t like that one either.

I am so glad that you have a driver lined up. I think that I might have to be knocked out to cross that one! I am petrified of bridges too!!!
I am glad that I live in an area where there aren’t to many of them, just short ones, like maybe 100 feet or so.
I’ll be thinking of you. Is it a fun trip that you are going on?

OMG you remind me of Oprah and Gayle when they went on their roadtrip! One of them disliked bridges..had panic attacks over knowing a bridge was coming up!! I hate bridges..so I close my eyes, put the seat back, and just listen to my IPOD or think of the beach!

Judy – you are doing the right thing – you have a driver all lined up for yourself! Good job! Sometimes there is just no explaining fears, you just have to accept them and plan accordingly.
Cheers!

I can’t believe how many of us are scared of bridges – I have to pretty much close my eyes and pray for deliverance when we go over a big one, lol. Sometimes if I’m extra worried, I stare over the side and wonder which part of the car will hit the water first when the bridge falls apart just as we get onto it! We go to Niagara Falls several times a year so we have a few biggies to cross – it’s nerve-wracking. I definitely couldn’t drive over a bridge (if I ever learned how to drive) – I’d surely have to have a driver. YIKES @ bridges!

Judy, I think of you everytime I drive over a bridge and often mention you to my husband… he thinks I’m so silly with my blog friends knowing all I do about them and not having met them before… LOL 😉
anyway, I just wanted to say = that in the 1st photo All I see are flying geese blocks turned in opposite directions flying away from the center…
and in the 2nd photo if I hadnt’ read it was a pic from map quest, I thought it was some sort of fancy trim for a curtain vallance or something. :c)
Glad to hear you have a driver for the trip. If I can ever be a driver for you when you are in the SE Texas area, just give me a hollar… and a day or two notice so I can clean out the van! 😉
Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Judy, Is that the bridge at Kimberling City? If it is, I thought I was going to pass out before I got across it a couple of months ago going to Branson. I had my dad drive when we got back to it going home and I closed my eyes!

I sure am glad there are not many bridges that bother me. One is the one that goes over the Chesapeake — it curves while it is very high. The other is the Coronado Bridge in San Diego. It also is high and curves. It is the curve that gets me. High is OK. I just do a little shudder after I cross them. The Mighty Mac is fine even though it is 5 miles long.
So, Judy, if you ever get to MI and need to go to the U.P. stop by, pick me up and I’ll gladly be your driver. I’ve done it for others although we were on vacation together and the bridge just needed to be crossed to get to our vacation destination.

I hope you have no problems crossing it. Hopefully it isn’t the type that is metal on the road, ugh, can’t think of how to describe… its not pavement, but metal bracing and you can see right through to the water below! Those I hate! And hopefully it isn’t too skinny. I hate those too. Feeling for you!
