If you’ve never participated in a Quiltathon, it’s basically just a time we set aside to sew as much as we can. We do everything we can possibly do ahead of time to free up our time for sewing.
The first one for 2017 will be January 5 – 8. The future dates are listed on the sidebar.
A reader commented a few weeks ago that for those who use Instagram, please tag your photos #Quiltathon and that will be a great way for everyone to see what all is accomplished during each month’s four day quilting/sewing marathon.
The biggest obstacle, which really isn’t an obstacle at all, is cooking so I try to get as much of that done ahead of time as I possibly can.
We have a bit over a week so this is a goo time to cook a little extra and stick some meals in the freezer. I plan to use some of my canned food. A few of things I have in jars are sweet & sour sauce for chicken, gumbo, and venison and gravy. I’m planning on fixing things like that for our meals. Cook a little rice and we’ll have meals in minutes!
Vince doesn’t go back to work til January 2 so I already have enough shirts ironed to get him through a couple of weeks so I won’t have to worry about ironing or laundry.
Think about what you can do that will free up more sewing time during the Quiltathon. Any good tips . . please share them here.

I am sew excited for the first Quiltathon. It’s been such a long time! I’m already plotting and planning but have come to the conclusion if he’s hungry, he will eat something. 🙂 I even know what I’ll be working on. I think. 😉

Hooray!!! My husband will be home on the 4th and 5th …but then gone. I can deal with that. While here he can watch to dogs!!! (so very sorry about Speck) I have a puppy who is rowdy, and has chewed the bottom off my desk chair, lol.just the underside, it still works, but he is a stinker. He is bringing home another puppy, a girl!! He says she is not so rowdy. I hope they will occupy one another 🙂 I will get lots of crunchy chewies for them….and get their dinner cooked in advance. I usually fix their meals for a week at a time, so we should be good. They aren’t spoiled or anything. I got a bag from Tractor Supply, ” I don’t have pets, I have friends and co-workers” That is sorta what my doggies are like. I know you understand.
Looking forward to this!!!

I would suggest prepping your projects if possible ahead of time. Find the rulers, fabric, whatever you need to do the next step.

Speaking of cooking, I bought an instant pot for my older child who is absolutely thrilled with it!

I bought one for my youngest grandson’s wife, who has a little boy of 18 mos, and a job that keeps her out of the home days. Hope to hear she uses it. Time will tell. I do plan to use mine when I’ll be tied to the sewing room. Brings me peace of mind, and my hubby and I get a good hot meal.
