Isn’t it funny, maybe in an odd sense, how things cycle? After not knitting for 20 or more years, I started knitting socks in 2006 and that was all I knitted til some time in 2011. The socks were always plain vanilla – not much fancy knitting except on a couple of pairs.
These socks were completed in July, 2011 right before we moved in August. Seeing that white carpet makes me sweat! I’m so glad to be done with carpet and hope to never have it again.
Maybe it was moving to Texas and seeing the great need for sweaters! 🙂 Seriously, in MO, during winter, we needed a jacket . . not always a heavy coat but at least a jacket. Here, a sweater will do on even the coldest of days. For the past 5 years, I’ve knitted quite a few sweaters and hardly any socks.
After Tour-de-Sock this year, my interest in sock knitting has been rekindled and that’s all I want to knit. During Tour-de-Sock, we had to finish a pair of socks every 10 days and some of those socks were downright hard. With Socktober starting tomorrow, we can knit any pattern we want to knit and just so it’s finished in October, it counts! I have at least 3 pair that are close enough to being finished that I think I can get them done, and I’m guessing if all goes well, I’ll finish another couple pair that are started.
The first ones I’m going to finish are these.
I’m down to the point of turning the heel . . once that’s done, these will be a piece of cake. So, my plan is that these will be my first finish of Socktober, 2016.

Does that mean there’s hope that you will get back to quilting? (lol)
