Some day I will learn (probably not!) to not wait til late on Thursday night to take photos of my work in progress. The colors on this first project are so wrong! It’s really a gorgeous royal purple and very limey green. This is Montague Street Cowl and it’s for my mitered square KAL at Eat, Sleep, Knit. The pattern calls for making it as a long piece and added buttons/buttonholes to fasten it into a cowl but I didn’t want to (1) have to find the perfect buttons, and (2) have to worry about keeping the buttons in the front or wherever I wanted them so I’m going to leave off the buttons and it will be knitted into a circle. I plan to add one extra square to make it longer so it will go over my head easily. Also, I started out with a provisional cast on so I weave the two ends together when I’m done and, to make it a little longer, I’m adding “sashing” between the blocks . . just a few rows of garter stitch. It’s really a fun and quick project. I think it would be nice done in school colors for gifts for friends who love their high school and college teams. Remember . . this one is purple and lime green . . not really anyone’s school colors that I know of but my favorite color combination nonetheless.
A second project is my Beekeeper’s Tank. This is for the No Sleeves KAL at ESK. This one is slow and boring but a great mindless project. I need 17″ of stockinette .. in fingering weight yarn. Ughh! This yarn is Madelinetosh Twist and the color is Fir Wreath and it’s knitting up so pretty. I will have several hours of mindless knitting this weekend so I wanted to get this one to the point of adding the second skein of yarn so I’m not having to do that in the car so that’s how far I got. There’s 8.5″ done so I’m halfway done with the stockinette. After that’s done, it shouldn’t take but a few hours to get it finished.
My goal is to have both of these finished by the end of the month. It may or may not happen but I’m trying.
