Remember this was my first entrelac project. It was fun and interesting. The pattern I used was Entrelac Satchel, which has great instructions, including a photo tutorial.
I cast on six more stitches to make it a bit wider. Then I decided to line it and add a zipper.
The lining obviously doesn’t “match” but I had it in my stash and it was easy to get to so . . I chose it. The zipper . . ah . . the zipper! I could only get a white one or a navy one. I probably should have gotten navy but I didn’t want a dark lining . . too hard to find stuff in a dark bag. I figured I should use the walking foot for the knitting so the zipper is kinda sloppy but, it’s in and it qualifies me for the “Seamstress” badge at Eat, Sleep, Knit.
Once I added the zipper, I didn’t like the way the white was showing at the top of the bag so I added ribbing at the top to make the zipper a bit farther down from the top. I added an I-cord loop on the side . . and it’s done!
The entrelac was fun. I’d love to make an entrelac scarf . . some day . . not soon!

Very nice! I have some of that lining fabric. How long have we been storing that?!? Oh, well, it was there when you needed it! Well done!

What lovely color and texture!

I really like the colors in your satchel. I did an Entrelac baby blanket a while back to practice the technique. A bag like you made would be fun!

I too have some of that lining fabric! What a hoot. I seem to recall that it’s a Hoffman, and many years’ old, but precisely how many I can’t say.
Love your entrelac. Outstanding first effort. Well done.

I have been having trouble lately finding things in my black purse. Good planning, Judy.
Entrelac is really a neat look, and one that begs the question of “HOW did you do that?” even having seen it in progress. New skill! 😀

Very pretty. I think it was a great idea to line it so the yarns won’t stretch out like it would surely do if I used it as a purse. I love the woven look of the yarns. Nice job.

I still have some of that lining fabric in my stash too! great looking bag. Without the lining, does the bag stretch a lot when filled with personal stuff?

This is so cute! Love the colors and that you added the lining and zipper! Great job!

You never cease to amaze me with your talents! My admiration for this satchel is beyond my works. I don’t think I would even attempt this. I am wondering what are the dimentions?
