Nicole’s Carabe is one step closer to being finished – this is the same picture I posted last night so nothing has changed. I wanted to send it to Nicole but our microcell wasn’t working so I couldn’t send it with the cell phone so I just posted it on the blog last night, even though I knew I would be posting it again today. Only the sleeves are left to be knitted. This is a great pattern! The yarn is Mrs. Crosby’s Steamer Trunk and I LOVE this yarn! It’s very tightly twisted and I’ll be surprised if it pills but I’m holding out to see til after it’s been worn a bit.
You might notice from the picture that I’ll probably be canning tomatoes at some point today . . when I’d rather be knitting!

If I was a little closer I could come help you can the tomatoes! Then you would have more time to knit!

does blocking smooth out the edges of the stripes? I have never knit or crocheted a garment with stripes before.
JudyL says
No, these stripes are not meant to be smooth. There’s a K1/Sl1 when changing colors to give an almost zig zag look.

Sweater is beautiful! And, yep, looks like some tomatoes are in need of processing so they don’t rot! I am doing jellies and jams this year….you got my canning mojo activated and I am having a ball doing jellies. Don’t have a pressure canner, so have to stick to things that can be water bathed-think I will buy some tomatoes to also can up for soups next winter as I do make a lot of soup in the winter and always have to buy tomatoes then. Enjoy!

I wish I had enough tomatoes to can more than one quart at a time. The prep may be shorter, but the rest takes just as long…
JudyL says
Yep, I try to never run the canner unless it’s full or almost full. It’s a waste of propane to can 1 or 2 quarts but it’s a waste of tomatoes not to do it. If I have fewer than half a canner’s worth, I’ll just wash the tomatoes and freeze them til I get more.
