Today is the next to last progress report. I will do one on Friday and then next week there will be a “Finished Post”. For anyone who is not finished yet, the link will remain in the right sidebar through at least the end of 2013 so get your Dreambird finished! I’m kinda hoping to have a second one finished by the end of the year.
For anyone who has a basic knowledge of knitting, this pattern is intimidating when you read through it but once you start and for sure once you get the first feather or two done, it’s a piece of cake . . not hard at all! Please don’t be the person who wants to do something but doesn’t because you’re afraid of it. It’s just yarn! It’s not even a whole lot of yarn required. If you start it and don’t finish it, you can rip it out and make something else. I think this would make a beautiful Christmas gift and, in fact, my second one is for a friend.
Here’s mine as of this morning. I’m always way too optimistic in my plans but I think there’s a chance I could finish this by tonight.

As previously reported, I have my yarn and now my needles. I am unable to focus particularly well these few days until we can get this baby (not mine – the new grandson) safely born and my quadriplegic son well from an infection that has gone on for far too long. Progress is being made on both fronts though, so hopefully soon. I’d hate to start, get frustrated, then put it away and not finish. Hopefully by the end of next week. Yours is so so pretty. And thank you so much for leaving the links for a bit – I think I am gonna need the help. 🙂

Yours just keeps getting prettier and prettier. Mine doesn’t look much different than last week – I worked on it a little but not much since then and I’ve been too busy starting and then ripping back my 4th quarter project 🙂

Wow, you are really racing to the finish. Beautiful. I have done 11 feathers, and almost keeping up to my goal of one a day. As you say it is easy once you get one feather done. I am planning on gifting my dreambird.

Judy, that is absolutely breathtaking! Truly beautiful. I’m so envious of those of you who knit. I just can’t seem to grasp the concept. And this is so beautiful … I have to admit to thinking many knitters are knuts until I see something like this. And then I experience true unadulterated envy.

Don’t ever give up trying if you really want to knit. Sometimes it just clicks when other times it doesn’t. There are many videos online . . maybe one of those might say it in a way that helps.
Amy (Waunaknit) says
Like Judy said, don’t give up! Start with something small and before you know it, you’ll be knitting anything your heart desires!
