Anyone want to do another Quilt Along? Or maybe digging out those UFOs has you wanting to finish some projects before starting another?? This quilt is not difficult at all. It can easily be made larger or smaller. This one I made several years ago and I think I gave it away as a gift to a one of the winners whose name was drawn from those who sent donations to the Red Cross for Joplin after the tornado there.
I’m not sure what I loved more . . the quilt or the family room in that house! I do miss the family room and the kitchen and . . I miss Chad! 🙁
The quilt as drawn, would be 65″ x 83″. The one shown above was a bit scrappy in that I used different golds for the star points but the same gold for the center of each block. The background is the same for the center of the quilt but a different background is used for the borders.
Here’s how it would look in a QOV version.
If I started this on May 1, would anyone want to do it with me?
Diane Muska says
I would do it! Love this pattern and can see it with scrappy stars to use up some of the smaller pieces in my stash,
Thanks!!
Debi says
That is a beautiful room Judy – I can see why you miss it
Dee says
Me, Me – I think it would be a great wedding gift –

I need a wedding quilt for a wedding in August. I think this would work splendidly. I’m in!
Meloney says
I was thinking that maybe this is my answer to a wedding quilt. I just can’t bring myself to start making the wedding quilt in a double wedding ring or the lone star quilt I thought about. I keep procrastinating. Maybe this would be my answer.
Helen Koenig1 says
Yes! I would love BOTH!!!!! I LOVE that Sunny Side up quilt – just gorgeous! And even know whose bed it would look gorgeous on! MINE!
Also would DEFINITELY love to do a UFO quilt a long (post beginning pix, then re-post the updated pix at various designated points along the way!)
I have something like 65 quilts (most – if not all – listed on side bar of my blog under flimsies and UFOs or WIPs) and truly need to do some MAJOR things to them – particularly since at least 30 or so were begun a year ago! Only a few were from before that!
charlene says
I would love to make this quilt along with you. It is a classic beauty.
Pam in KC says
I love the quilt, but in addition to the parade, I listed out 4 steps I need to take to reduce the size of my stash. Not starting new quilts until I get something finished is #1 on those steps. I don’t know that I can get anything finished in the next two weeks since I have to work as well.
Patty says
I’m game. No longer working as of yesterday so gatta do something.
Liz says
I would be interested in the fun!
Alycia says

You know me. I’m always game. I’ll have this one finished in the next couple of days, and that for a May project would be great!

Yes, I’d love to do this quilt. I especially love the R, W and B version – always catches my eye!

I really like the quilt and would try to keep up. We are vendors for the local Farmers’ Market and it opens May 4. We don’t have much planted yet because the ground is still pretty cold although we are starting to warm up. so LOTS of plnting starting soon. When do you find time to sew with your gardening??

I think I’m in. I really want to do this. Maybe I can keep up. Life on a farm in the spring doesn’t leave much time for sewing, but I’m gonna try. I would like to do this one in purples.
Donna says
I am so in on this! Will be making the patriotic version with scraps…Thanks for the inspiration.

I’ve followed your blog for years, but was unable to have time to start one of your quilts, until now. I am planning a scrappy patriotic and already have step one done. Keep up the good work.
Trudie says
I am joining late but will get my fabrics out this afternoon. Looks like a gorgeous quilt.
Judith says
Late starting, but working to catch up. Hope mine turns out half as good as “Sunny side up” !!
Judith says
A late starter, but I’m up for this QAL. Will have to catch up quickly!
Ott says
Judy – I am so excited to be finishing up Sunny Side Up in patriotic colors but have one question. Am I looking at the directions correctly??? Is border # 5 background or should it be Dark Gold?? (so far my quilt is looking really good and I am so happy with how it has turned out) Your directions have been easy to follow but I wanted to make sure about Border # 5. Thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent with us and allowing us “not so talented” to be able to produce a beautiful quilt
