If you’ve followed my stash reports through the years, you know I’ve never had week after week after week where I’ve used NOTHING! I’m sewing . . I’m making a project with fabric that was provided so I can’t count that.
It isn’t too late to start thinking about 2013 and my renewed stashbusting efforts. I figure I’ll just coast the rest of this year, not buy anything, use as much as I can but 2013 I’m going to be stashbusting like you won’t believe. Anyone want to join me and clear out those fabric shelves or buckets or bags so we can have one big shopping spree, without guilt, at the end of 2013?
Once again . . I report nothing in and nothing out:
Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 147.25 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 48.75 yards
Net Used for 2012: 98.50 yards

I made a little (and I do mean a very little) progress this week! I just buy in bigger quantities than I tend to work! Egads. Have a good week, Judy! 🙂
Cheryl in Iowa says
don’t call it quits yet, Judy! This is only week 34….there are 18 more weeks…and fall is coming, that means most of the really good sewing weather is ahead.
But I’m with you for the 2013 stashbusting. I’ve had too many shopping sprees and too much stash.
Julie in GA says
I understand how other things get in the way of having time to sew. But look at your bottom line–almost 100 yards net used for the year so far. I consider that a great success!
Fran says
My stash has been out of control for way too long. I’ll definitely join you in 2013.

You’ve had a pretty busy year witht the move and such. But you still managed almost 150 yards out which isn’t shabby by any means. Compared to what you did last year, it’s not nearly as good, but you didn’t pack up and move last year either.
Yes, I’m with you for next year. I really need to use what I have. But even though the stash has grown this year, I’ve been able to shop my stash for all 4 of the projects I’ve started plus the one I hope to start next month. That wasn’t the case last year when I had to buy fabric to have what I needed to make a quilt. So the incoming has made it possible to have more outgoing. I think that’s progress.

I agree with the others – you have had so many other things going on this year! Look at all you have done outside of the sewing room. The good news is that you now have some new inspiration for that stash – baby quilt, little girl quilts, pillows, dresses, etc. I also think that the good time of year is ahead – as the garden winds down, the sewing will ramp up.
Debbie Rhodes says
I just wish I had a stash I could use 50 yards from and still have a stash!!! lucky you.
pdudgeon says
my only problem is finding a quilter! so far i’ve filled up 5 dresser drawers with quilt tops and i’ve still got over 50 quilt projects to go. the good thing is that i’m only buying backs now, and very few of those, so they get used as quickly as they come in. one of these days i’ll find a quilter and will be able to keep her in business for a looooong time to come!
Marie says
Pdudgeon, where do you live at? Are you near Missouri?
pdudgeon says
i’m in the beautiful state of Virginia, Marie. but at this point i think i’d even be willing to mail my quilt tops out if it ment getting them done!

I have followed your reports, and my stash seems to be growing, even though my stash reports say not. I am thinking of a double-stash report where I report yardage usage and scrap usage. Because lately I seem to BUY yardardage and replace it with scraps. I think perhaps I overestimate scrap usage, making it look like my stash goes down when it does not.
Rosalie says
Nancy,That is because the scraps multiply in the night! (Also if people know that you collect scraps they usually will send you some!)

I have been trying to reduce my stash for the last few years but never seem to make a dent. I will join and then I can see if I make a dent.
