Here’s part 1 of a 2 part show of accomplishments. There were more finishes and near finishes than I’ve ever seen at a retreat. These ladies sewed non-stop . . day and night!
I didn’t take notes so I hope I have the correct names with all these quilts. If not, please correct me. The photos are listed in the order in which I took them and no doubt I missed some of them and if I did, that was purely accidental.
This is a terrible picture of a gorgeous soon to be quilt! Pam was working on this one and I love it and am definitely going to make one of these.
In the foreground is Pam’s Texas quilt. Farther back is Krista’s purple, orange and green February color palette challenge.
The four patches in the front are Karla’s and there’s something about the colors she used that makes me want to grab some of those same colors and make a four patch quilt!
The stars are Sue’s January Color Palette Challenge top. On the wall are Krista’s Orca Bay and I’m not sure what the other design is but it’s also Krista’s quilt.
I believe the front top was made by Charlene and maybe the one on top with the strips was made by Charlene and the half circles was made by Beryl.
Donna made a lot of progress on her mystery from the 2010 Shipshewana retreat.
The front two are Susan’s and the back ones were made by Wanda.
In the front is a part of Wanda’s Christmas quilt. On the design wall are one of Liz’ blocks and those green blocks with the star in the middle . . Cheryl? Swooze? Melinda? I cannot remember who was working on those.
More pictures will be posted later!

Wow, you did have talented ladies-lucky them to be a part of your retreat! Do you know where the deer fabric is available from? My husband would love it.
Susan ~ Patchkat says
the deer are applique!

Is there a pattern for the deer quilt? Is that actually on the fabric…that is a great quilt and I know someone who would just love this!!
All the quilts are amazing…and your are right. Lots of sewing going on. Maybe that is my problem, I need a retreat to sew!!

Judy, I had a wonderful time – wish we could have stayed the extra day. Next year, I hope. You did an awesome job of pulling it together. I can’t believe how much food you prepared. I got 30 of my DNP squares done. Can’t wait to get home and get back to work on it. Thanks again for planning the retreat.
Liz says
On the last picture, the mystery set of blocks belonged to Krista, eh? She almost forgot them as she was packing up to go back to Canada but Swoze reminded her of them.
Thanks Judy… it was lots of fun and I hope all goes well so we can return next year.

I had the best time! Even with all the drama back home. I went see Dad when I got home and he looks goo. Thank you so much for hosting this retreat. I’m now fired up to get back to my quilting.
Doris - The Quilting Queen says
Terry, glad you made it home safely and most importantly your dad is looking good. Enjoyed meeting you and looking forward to seeing you and your dh again.

Made it “home” to the Gulf in 7 1/2 hours. Slowly unpacking. Judy is a wonderful hostess, we had a great group of quilters — what a fun time! I sewed so intensely, I’m still waiting for my shoulders to relax and return to normal height! Thank you, Judy, for such a special time.
Krista says
I finally made it home, 15 hours after leaving the retreat this morning. It was great! Thanks, Judy, for the fun, and the food, and the chance to meet a great set of ladies.
And yes, as Liz pointed out, the green blocks with the star in the center are mine – they did indeed almost stay in Texas. But they are home with me and waiting for the next step. The quilt you weren’t sure of the name is a pattern called “Mexican Stars”.
Donna in KS says
So glad to know you are home, Krista; we talked about how long it would take you on our way home. It was wonderful to meet you….as it was to meet so many others for the first time. I admire you for all it took for you to get here and share your prolific talent with us in person. Looking forward to next year; I’ve no doubt you’ll be in TX!

My word Judy, you do get things done. Moving, buying a house, setting up shop, and then the retreat. Very productive and very fun to follow. Rest up this week. Enjoyed hearing all about it.
Susan ~ Patchkat says
we had a super fun time. Thanks for hosting this much needed retreat. I enjoyed making new friends!

Thanks, Judy for one of the BEST retreats that I’ve done! Diane and I decided to ‘push on home’ as we got to San Antonio way earlier than we had planned. On to The Valley was only 4.5 hours more. We had great accomidations at The Flagstaff, but…back in our own beds is even better! Thanks again! See You ALL next time!

what an amazing group of quilts and quilters! my hat’s off to you, ladies.
and i love the design wall! that’s the very best and biggest design wall at a quilting retreat that I’ve ever seen. can’t tell you how often i’ve been stuck with a 2×3 “design space” next to my machine at classes.
so glad that the retreat was a huge success.

I was searching for another post, and found this post (one I had missed when your blog was malfunctioning I guess?), and I just LOVE that deer quilt! Is there a pattern somewhere online for it? I know quite a few people who would also LOVE a quilt like this!
And the post I was looking for, I never found. It was a post about Iowa Chowder with the recipe…….. I wanted to tell you that we have an annual party that is a soup cook-off. Last night was our annual party – and I made the Iowa Chowder (no, I had never made it before yesterday! But, I knew it would be good when you said Chad would eat the whole batch if he could, LOL). Out of 20 soup entries, and 5 unbiased judges picked the Iowa Chowder the winner! This was our biggest turnout for the entries and I was THRILLED to win with a new soup recipe! Thanks for sharing it!

Just got mine this week. Congratulations on the soup win. That soup is so good!
