This quilt is going to be named Rolling Along.
The instructions for today are to make flying geese . . lots of them! You will need to make 72 flying geese that will finish at 1-1/4″ x 2-1/2″. They need to be 1-3/4″ x 3″ unfinished. You will use the ecru/background and navy fabrics. Use your favorite method to make them.
Even if you can’t get all 72 of them made before the next set of instructions are posted on Wednesday, try to get at least 24 of them made. Each block requires 4 flying geese. You can do it!
There are many methods to make flying geese. I like Brenda Henning’s Triangulations™ software. Here are some links that might help you if you don’t already have a favorite method.

Ok… so the ecru you cut 72 blocks at 1.75″ x3″ and how big are the squares that you sew to that block to make the flying geese? 1.75×1.5″? Did I miss the cutting instructions somewhere?

No, I did not give cutting instructions — you just make the flying geese using your favorite method so they finish at the size indicated. There are so many ways to make them and everyone has their own method, and each method involves different sizes of squares and/or triangles.

I have no clue what you mean, seriously. I guess I don’t have enough experience for this one. Thanks for taking the time to answer me. 🙂

Anne,
click on the second site she gives-Patti Anderson. she gives detailed instructions of making flying geese of any size. I have the same problem-math challenged some times but using Patti method I was able to figure it out and make a few.

I’ve made dozens, if not hundreds, of flying geese, but I don’t know how to make one in the right size without being given the block sizes to cut. 🙂 I’m not that much of an advanced quilter. 😉

I’m new here, but not new to quilting. I would like to play along with your project but cannot find fabric requirements. Are they posted on a previous Monday?
I love your newsy blog!

I just used your Print Friendly button to print the instructions for part 1 of Rolling Along….thank you for that! I can’t believe I just now noticed that the goose was the ecru and the “sky” was the blue. I would have made them with blue geese and ecru sky if I hadn’t noticed that just now!

Oh…I found it! I’m off to the sewing studio to make many flying geese. Great looking quilt. Thanks…
