It is time for a Quilt-Along!
Without a doubt, there’ll never be a time when everyone can do it so, if you can — great and if you can’t . . there’ll be others.
Here’s what I can tell you now:
- Instructions will be posted beginning Monday, January 23. I will post instructions on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I will leave them up and once we’re all done, I’ll create a link on the Free Patterns page so if you can’t do in now, it will be there when you’re ready.
- The quilt will finish at 61″ x 81″.
- I have not figured yardage requirements yet but EQ says: Background – 2-7/8 yards; Red – 1 yard; Navy – 1-3/4 yards. For the scrappy framed star blocks, EQ says you can get 3 blocks from 3/8 yard. I wouldn’t recommend buying fabric yet but if you want to begin digging through the stash to see what might work, this will get you started. I will post more specific yardage requirements by the end of this weekend, once I get the pattern written.
Anything I forgot to say?

Love the pattern and was hoping there would be a pattern to go with it. Is it ok if we use this pattern for QOV in our area???
Hugs!!!!

Hi, would this work with a scrappy light background? It certainly looks interesting and I would like to do it.

The star blocks are very interesting. I have sooo many PHDs (projects half done!) but I may do this.

Am looking forward to your postings. Thanks so much. One of my quilt groups is in such desperate need of QOV and the ones I have seen are lovely but ‘same old’. Excited to contribute something different!! Doreen

I have EQ6 and really only used it a few times to work out some bargello patterns. I really have no clue how to use it otherwise. I know that EQ7 is out now, maybe even more! Perhaps you could do some tutorials on EQ? It just seems so confusing!
I love the way your quilt design turned out, just beautiful!
Betty says
LOVE THE PATTERN!!!! I am so glad you shared it and may try to do this one.
Robin says
Love the pattern also but no time to quilt a long with you but will keep it for future use I’m hoping to find the time to make another quilt to send off for a QOV.

I love it! I still haven’t finished the star quilt along from a few years ago. It just needs borders. For some reason that seams to be where I hit a snag. I have a couple of quilts to the border stage that are now UFO’s. I will have to see what I can do for this one. Thanks!

I appreciate all that you share with us. Love following your blog.

OK, now you’ve done it! I’m break one of my New Year’s resolutions already, not to start anything new until I finish a UFO, but it will be worth it. I am going to quilt along with you too. Will rummage through the stash looking for appropriate scraps and be ready to start on the 23rd. Thanks for offering this one up.
Karla says
Love Love the pattern but will have to try and do later still working on the ufo for January and my time is running out eeck!
Katie says
Oh dear. I SO do NOT need another project, but I really do love this quilt. I’m seeing it in pinks and purples, but maybe that’s just all the Valentine’s stuff I’ve seen everywhere clogging my brain? (Probably not the best color choices for QOV, but we’ll see where the stash takes me.) Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful pattern!
Amy (NW WI) says
Hahahaha….LOVE IT! As IF I really need another “start” before I get a finish in…..
I’m game! And can’t wait! Thank you for your leadership!
