Putting Up Bananas

Monday morning . . everyone is out of the house and it’s my time to sew.  But . . wait, it’s after 2:00 p.m. and I haven’t touched the machine!

Needed Claritin-D or Tavist-D . . anything with a “D” in it yesterday but if it has the magic “D”,  you have to give your life history to the pharmacist, sign on the dotted line that you promise you’re not making illegal drugs and then you can pay for your needed drugs.  Only problem is . . no pharmacies around here are open on Sunday.  So, I was at Wal-Mart bright and early . . too bright and early.  The pharmacy doesn’t open til 9.  Good grief!  Went ahead and bought a few things I needed, came home, put them away, went back to the local pharmacy after 9 and got my drugs.  Then, after I got home, I remembered I have no buttermilk and I need that for cornbread tonight so . . back to the local grocery I went.  That’s three trips out of the house before 10:00 a.m.

You all know how Vince reacts to a bargain, right?  If one is good, a truck load is better.

Bananas are on sale so I put up these bananas first thing.  In the middle of getting the bananas done, I had to stop and roll out the pita bread for lunch.

What a mess, huh?

Last week while putting up apples, I asked Vince to run to the store and get me four . . that’s 4 . . lemons.  This is what’s left after I used the four I needed.  And, also a view of my new Target furniture that I love!

One way to get rid of lemons is to make a lemon pie.  Notice the lazy dog soaking up the sun in the background.

Dinner tonight is red beans, sausage and rice with salad and cornbread.  Thank goodness for the crockpot!

Now that I really can go sew, I think I’ll take a quick nap!

When you say “put up bananas” what do you mean? Do you preserve them in some way? You get so much done every day that it exhausts me!

I TOO want to know what “put up” bananas means. Only thing I ever do with bananas is make bread (if they make it that long)

    Judy,

You need to keep buttermilk powder in the house! That way, you won’t run out or have it spoil in the fridge!
